Those seeking to get a nursing license and an associate degree would do well to attend Belanger School of Nursing.
This school has a short two-year associate program that can prepare future nurses for the difficulties of their chosen career path and offers many options for further educational goals.
They are partnered with other institutions if a student wants to obtain a bachelor’s degree.
Belanger is a hospital-based school. This means that students will spend much of their time assisting doctors and fellow nurses at actual hospitals in order to gain real-world practice and experience. In addition to this practice, 42 college credits must be obtained in order to receive an Associate in Science degree in Nursing.
This takes two years of full-time study plus one summer class.
Following the completion of an associate degree, students may then transfer to 11 other colleges to receive a bachelor’s degree if they so choose.

Belanger is only a two-year school, so it’s not as expensive as a full four-year university. There are two pathways to graduation that students may choose from.
Day program tuition and fees end up costing nearly $20,000 for two full years of education. The day program will be familiar to many people and resembles the traditional school structure. Classes begin in the morning and end in the evening and there are breaks throughout the day to allow for eating and resting.
There’s also an evening or weekend program that accomplishes the same educational goals as the first past. However, it costs nearly $18,000 instead. This is due to lower fees since classes are taken at suboptimal times. This is an alternative pathway for those who have other priorities or who must work a day job in order to pay for school or support a family.
Some of the cost of this school covers expenses incurred from spending time in hospitals. The rest of the fees cover the actual cost of education provided by the school.
Belanger requires all tuition payments be made in full prior to the beginning of each individual academic semester. Full refunds may be made throughout the first week of the semester, with progressively less of a full refund being available as the semester continues.

Belanger has several avenues for financial aid to lessen the burden on students that do not have the economic ability to pay for school easily. They offer programs and grants from the Higher Education Services Corporation; many of these grants include scholarships for minorities for people in need.
In addition, Belanger students are eligible to apply for federal grants and loans. The normal federal Pell grant can be applied for every year along with the completion of the FAFSA.
Pell grants are awards of money that must be put towards education expenses. Federal Stafford loans are also available in subsidized and unsubsidized varieties to help cover the entire cost of tuition while a student is in school.
There are special grants for Native Americans who can prove that they are part of tribes located within New York State. Applicants must be residents of a reservation in order to qualify for financial aid.
In addition, Belanger offers several scholarships that may be applied for each year. One of the scholarships cover the full cost of tuition and is awarded annually to a first-year student upon enrollment.
$3017 is the average amount awarded.
$2959 was the average amount awarded.
$6647 was the average amount awarded.
As a school of nursing, Belanger offers associate degrees in this specialty alone. At the end of the program, students will receive their RN license and become eligible for hire at hospitals as trained nurses.
Should students desire to continue their education, credits earned that Belanger may be transferred to up to 11 different universities who each have agreements with Belanger separately. These credits can be put towards degrees and related fields, such as health science.
In addition, Belanger has partnered with Siena College to offer a dual degree program. This allows students to get a liberal arts education at Siena College, including living on campus. The first year of the program requires living on the Siena campus and studying liberal arts and science courses full-time.
The second and third years of the program take place at both schools can provide clinical experience in hospitals and on campus. By the end of the third year, students receive an Associate of Science Degree and will also be eligible for receiving an RN license.
For the fourth year, students will return to Siena College and continues to study. They will then receive a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Siena College.

Belanger school life is generally busy and focused. Since much of the work of the school is done off-campus at clinical facilities, students can expect to spend time traveling between various learning locations.
In class, Belanger has a mix of traditional academic and practical lessons. Some classes take place mostly in laboratories while others are in normal classrooms.
Since there is no on-campus housing, student get-togethers and collaboration are usually done in local libraries or at clinics where practical experience is gained. Nursing is an energy-intensive career path and does not leave a lot of time for excess socialization or time-wasting. Student life is appropriately focused and disciplined.
Student reviews of Belanger are positive but also mixed due to the overall high-stress environment and lack of community. Students have noted that teachers are supportive and knowledgeable. The curriculum is challenging and thorough and helps to prepare future nurses for the variety of difficult situations that they are likely to face during their career in nursing.
However, since there is no on-campus housing and most students are only there for a short two year period, there is not much of a sense of calm robbery or companionship amongst the student body or faculty.
In particular, students note that fellow nurses are impressed with the education they received at Belanger. This can be quite advantageous in today’s competitive work environment, as opportunities for promotion or even being hired are at an all-time low. Students are able to take the rigorous education from Belanger and use it to boost themselves above the competition.
Overall, students at Belanger noted that while the school prepared them for the difficulties of the career, it also did not provide much in terms of social fulfillment or extracurricular activities. This is a school that is best suited for those who are hyper-focused on obtaining their nursing license in as short a time as possible.
